4. Waiting Period & Same-Day Signup

4.1 Standard Waiting Period – 21 Days

For regular signups, coverage for repairs begins 21 days after the plan start date. Any breakdowns, issues or claims that occur during the waiting period are not covered.

4.2 Same-Day Signup During a Repair Visit

If you sign up for a plan on the same day as a paid repair visit:

  • The 21-day waiting period is waived for future covered repairs.
  • The labour charge for that same-day repair is reduced from $220–$250 down to $85.
  • Parts for that same-day repair are not covered and are paid by the customer.
  • After that first visit, future approved repairs on covered appliances include parts and labour under your plan rules.
  • All appliances still must go through a mandatory inspection to be officially registered and covered.

5. Mandatory Appliance Inspection

Coverage applies only to appliances that:

  • Have been inspected by an Octopus Royal technician,
  • Have been approved as safe and reasonable to cover, and
  • Are listed and registered under your plan.

Any appliance that is not inspected or not listed as covered in your plan is not covered, even if it is in the same property.

6. What Is Covered

Subject to these Terms & Conditions, and after the waiting period or same-day rules, the plan covers:

  • Mechanical and electrical failures due to normal household use of covered appliances.
  • Parts & labour required to complete approved repairs, unless specifically excluded.
  • One annual maintenance visit for covered appliances (cleaning, inspection, basic adjustment, safety checks – scope depends on appliance type).
  • Priority scheduling for members over non-members whenever possible.
  • Free removal and installation when a covered appliance is declared non-repairable by our technician (the cost of the new appliance itself is not included).

7. What Is NOT Covered (Exclusions)

7.1 Fridge & Washer Major Exclusions

  • Refrigerator sealed system repairs – including compressor, evaporator, condenser, refrigerant leaks, recharging, vacuuming, brazing, filter-drier and 3-way valves, compressor inverter boards.

  • Appliances located in unsafe, blocked or inaccessible locations.
  • Damage caused by renovations, construction, plumbing or electrical work around the appliance.

8. Coverage Limits

  • We are not responsible for delays caused by parts availability, shipping delays or manufacturer backorders.

To the maximum extent allowed by law in Ontario, the Company’s liability is limited to the actual repair or, if declared non-repairable, to removal and installation of a replacement appliance (appliance cost not included).

12. Modifications & Governing Law
